SANSA Earth Observation at the 5th Edition of ENGAGE

As part of sharing experiences and learning about the global trends in the space industry, SANSA Earth Observation Managing Director Ms Andiswa Mlisa is currently attending the 5th Edition of Engage in London.

The annual ENGAGE-2018 is a two-day event, 10-11 April 2018, meant for senior-level professionals across all sectors of geo and provides you with the opportunity for learning, sharing, engaging, and networking with the true “who’s who” of the industry.

This event is currently attended by about 400 senior level executives from government and private organizations from 30 countries. Their aim is to leverage location information to enable smarter decisions.

As one of the speakers on Day1 (http://engageemear.digitalglobe.com/agenda), Ms Mlisa’s topic is “Knowing the pulse: enabling decision making through EO”. This delves in three areas;

– The enabling environment for bringing EO to developing countries.
– Understanding and responding to societal needs.
– Value of collaborations and partnerships.

Her key message to the participants is that the South Africa space sector is ready for a shift by the industry, where South Africa as a developing country is not to be viewed as a simple market but rather is a source of knowledge for developing innovative solutions through its local space industry and a partner for research and development programmes.

The significance of this event is well captured in the endorsement by Andy Wells, the Business Development Director of Sterling GEO. Deciding to support the ENGAGE event for the second year was a very easy decision for Sterling GEO “As the largest provider of advanced technology for Image Exploitation in the UK, this event offers a superb opportunity for organisations in the UK looking to create business value from earth observation data”.

The event is hosted by DigitalGlobe – the leading provider of Earth imagery, data and analysis.
