SANSA has welcomed the appointment of an Interim Board for the South African National Space Agency, effective 21 August 2026. The appointment was made by the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Professor Blade Nzimande, in terms of Section 13A(3) of the SANSA Act, 2008, and will remain in place for a six-month period (until January 2027) or until a new Board is constituted.

The Interim Board brings together a wealth of expertise in research, finance, and astrophysics. Mr Andrew Khutso Msiza, Senior Vice President of Research & Technology at SASOL Ltd, will serve as Chairperson, bringing strong governance and innovation experience. He is joined by Mr Shawn Basson (Head: Finance and Supply Chain Management at SARAO), Prof Thulani Phillip Jili (University of Zululand), Dr Sinenhlanhla Precious Sikhosana (University of KwaZulu-Natal), and Dr Adriana Marais (Foundation for Space Development Africa).

The Agency looks forward to benefiting from the Board’s expertise and governance during this period of their term.
