The South African National Space Agency (SANSA) is proud to announce that it will host the upcoming 6th Space Economy Leaders Meeting (SELM6) as part of the G20 from 1 to 3 September 2025 at Arabella in Hermanus, Western Cape. This prestigious global event will bring together the Heads of G20 space agencies, international organisations, and industry leaders to discuss the growing importance of the space economy in addressing global challenges and unlocking new opportunities.

Since its inception in 2020, SELM has become a leading platform for dialogue and collaboration between space-faring nations and emerging players. Previous editions were hosted by Saudi Arabia (2020), Italy (2021), Indonesia (2022) India (2023), and Brazil (2024). Each meeting has underscored the vital role of space technologies in advancing sustainable development, fostering innovation, and strengthening international cooperation.

Under South Africa’s leadership in 2025, SELM will focus on “SPACE AS A CATALYST FOR INCLUSIVE GLOBAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT: Policy, Partnership and Prosperity”. Discussions will highlight how space science, technology, and innovation can contribute to global priorities such as climate change resilience, digital transformation, socio-economic development, and the protection of our planet.

Hosting SELM marks a milestone for SANSA and South Africa, positioning the country at the forefront of the global space economy. It also provides a unique opportunity to showcase South Africa’s space capabilities, scientific excellence, and commitment to international collaboration.

As part of the programme, delegates will participate in high-level policy discussions, technical exchanges, and industry engagements, aimed at developing practical recommendations to be elevated to G20 leaders. The meeting will also provide opportunities for South African researchers, innovators, and industry players to engage with their international counterparts.

The outcomes of SELM 2025 will feed into the broader G20 agenda, strengthening the recognition of space as a critical enabler of economic growth, sustainability, and global cooperation.
