The site has been a key municipal waste disposal facility in northern Tshwane for years. However, this site is approaching its full capacity and presents significant environmental and health challenges, especially for the nearby communities. Soshanguve is a densely populated township in northern Tshwane with an estimated population of over 400,000 residents.
