The South African National Space Agency (SANSA) was established in 2010. Following a period of rapid growth and transition the agency has made significant advancements towards addressing its mandate of deriving greater value from space science and technology for the benefit of South African society.

SANSA coordinates the third Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) Workshop in Gabon

The 3rd Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) workshop coordinated by SANSA as the Chair of CEOS Working Group on Capacity Development and Data Democracy (WGCapD) took place in Libreville, Gabon, between 20 and 24 February. In October 2016 the WGCapD conducted a SAR training workshop in Lusaka, Zambia and in January 2017 another SAR workshop was held in Pretoria. These two workshops provided training to participants from both East Africa and SADC countries.

'An incredible display of how to achieve incredible feats in the face of adversity through passion, perseverance and excellence' - SANSA

Hidden Figures (https://youtu.be/jetpvwpTF1o), an American portrayal of the true life experience of three remarkable African American women who were employed at NASA in the sixties, had a pre-screening on 22 February 2017 at three city centres in the country.

SANSA was privileged to participate at these screenings in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban and got the opportunity to show off some of our own 'Hidden Figures' who shared their experiences and achievements at the Agency.
