26 Jun SA scientists tour Japan
The delegation is comprised of SANSA’s stakeholders such as Eskom, Ekurhuleni Metropolitan municipality, Southern mapping, South African Marine Safety Authority (SAMSA), Department of Human Settlements, Transnet National Ports Authority and SANSA.
They will be trained on the applications of remote sensing technologies in marine safety awareness, disaster management and drone technologies. The delegation will be trained by key technical experts and leading institutions in Japan that are involved in space related activities.
In 2015 SANSA and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that allows the two agencies to collaborate on various aspects of space science research and infrastructure projects. This is now the third year in succession that a delegation from SA attends training in Japan, since the signing of the MoU.
The tour is sponsored by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in partnership with SANSA.
