SANSA Board members are appointed by the Minister of Science & Technology according to the stipulations of the SANSA Act, 36 of 2008, for a four-year term. The Board consists of ten members, including the SANSA Chief Executive Officer as an ex-officio member.
Board members are selected according to certain criteria, such as having distinguished themselves in the space industry or possessing the qualifications, experience or skills related to one or more functions of SANSA and representing one or more of the various sectors of space science and technology.
Cabinet announced the inaugural board of SANSA in May 2010. Subsequently the Board was officially inaugurated by the DST Minister on the 15 July 2010.
